Summary
Sandfield Close Primary School is seeking a committed and enthusiastic Level 2 SEND Teaching Assistant to join our Reception team. The successful candidate will either provide 1:1 SEND support to a child or support a small group of children with SEND, helping them to access learning, develop key skills and flourish within our early year’s environment.
This is a 2-term temporary post, required from Monday 5th January 2026.
• Grade 3, SCP 5
• FTE: £25,583
• Actual Salary: £16,417.66 (based on 31.65 hours, term-time only, 39 weeks)
• 31.65 hours per week
• Monday–Friday: 8:20am–3:10pm
• Includes a 30-minute unpaid lunch break
• Term-time only (39 weeks)
Please note that this post is funded through SEND provision and attached to support for a specific child. Should that child leave the school, the role may conclude, with a four-week notice period.
The successful EYFS SEND Teaching Assistant will:
• Have proven experience supporting pupils with ASD and language/communication needs, ideally within an early year setting.
• Demonstrate excellent communication skills when working with both children and adults.
• Be able to deliver personalised 1:1 support and targeted early-years interventions, both inside and outside the classroom.
• Have a strong understanding of SEND strategies that enable children to meet their individual provision and targets.
• Be confident and skilled in working with EYFS children, supporting their early learning and developmental needs.
• Assist in monitoring, recording and reviewing SEND provision in line with school and statutory requirements.
• Support children’s well-being, personal care and hygiene needs, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment at all times.
