In order to apply for this role you will have approximately 3 years’ experience in a relevant financial position, ideally within a local authority, charity or public sector organisation.
The role:
On behalf of a local council, we are seeking a temporary Finance Officer to cover a vacant post during the recruitment process.
The successful candidate will be suitably qualified, enthusiastic and motivated individual, with relevant experience, to contribute to a highly effective service within the Finance Team responsible for Council-wide financial planning and management and the provision of financial information to a wide range of internal and external users.
Key Responsibilities:
Completing Budget Management which includes Education and Public Health Services
Completing the budget cycle to agreed deadlines
Supporting and advising budget holders
Supporting the Finance Manager and Senior Finance Officer with specific and adhoc workstreams
What the client is looking for:
Approximately 3 years’ experience in a relevant financial position
Relevant finance qualifications or equivalent experience
Knowledge of accounting concepts and principles
Experience of using Financial Management systems
Experience of interpreting legislation, policy or procedures to give advice
Able to analyse and interpret complex information
Able to communicate effectively to a wide range of audiences, both verbally and in writing
Able to organise work and plan tasks to meet tight deadlines
Able to work independently with minimal supervision
IT literate, able to use Microsoft Office packages
Able to present complex information to non-finance specialists in a way they understand.
