Job Description
Role – Support Worker (Older People Services)
Location – GCHSCP, Locations within the North East, North West, and South of Glasgow
Hours and Shift Pattern – 2 x 25hrs, 1 x 30hrs and 4 x 35hrs available. This role will require flexible, evening and weekend working.’

The Community Support Team provides a Person Centred Home Based Support service for older people who have a diagnosis of dementia and associated health and physical support requirements.
Support Workers provide care and support to service users and their carers within their own homes. The support provided will include assistance with all aspects of daily living to allow service users to retain their independence whilst promoting their rights, autonomy and choices. Support Workers will assist service users to access a range of community based, meaningful and outcome led activities to enhance service user’s life experiences and assist them to develop new and existing skills. The support provided will be in in line with Care Inspectorate guidance, policy & procedure as well as National Strategies for people living with dementia.
As a Support Worker, you will carry out observations in relation to service users that are relevant to developing an understanding of that person's physical, emotional, and environmental needs and in so doing contribute to the on-going assessment/care planning process. Tasks include personal care, moving and assisting, written recording and reporting of care plan progress. Service users may also require support with their communication skills to assist them in daily living tasks.
Training appropriate to the post and for personal development will be provided. You must be caring, tolerant, flexible, and competent in English - both written and spoken. You will have good time management and organisational skills and have a basic knowledge of Health & Social Care Standards.
Membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme is essential on taking up appointment. Please note successful candidates for the above role will be required to pay for their PVG Membership/or Scheme Checks.
These roles are excepted under Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exclusions and Exceptions) (Scotland) Order 2013 (as amended).
