Your Role:As Commercial Director, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the commercial strategy of our growing organisation. You’ll lead business development, partnerships, and growth initiatives - driving revenue while staying true to our values of integrity, sustainability, and patient-first care.ObjectivesTo develop and implement sustainable commercial strategies and business plans to accelerate company growth.Identify and pursue commercial opportunities including new contract opportunities as well as mergers and acquisitions.Build and develop working relationships with external stakeholders in a bid to generate new business opportunities for the Company.To ensure that the Company is well prepared to be successful in local government contract tender processes having built relationships with relevant stakeholders and understanding their needs.To lead negotiations for significant contracts with customers and commissioners ensuring adequate clauses to protect the Company’s position.To directly manage a Business Development Manager who is responsible for building relationships with commissioners, assisting operational teams with bed sales initiatives and who monitor progress and engagement around commissioning projects more generally.<u>Practice Expectations</u>Regularly reviewing market demographic information, competitor analysis and fee benchmarking across the regions that we operate within and formulating strategies to improve our market position.To have a detailed understanding of the care sector challenges as well as being up to date with regional health and social care agendas and strategies.Building relationships with decision makers - DASS, head of brokerage, head of commissioning, transfers of care teams to maximise new contract opportunities.To review and shortlist relevant acquisition opportunities for the Company’s Board to consider having assessed and scored the opportunity by reference to the Company’s key acquisition metrics.Co-ordinating the writing of local government tender responses to a high standard and being confident in presenting as part of tender processes.Engaging with the wider operational support teams to ensure tender responses are cohesive and compelling to maximise the chances of success in addition to identifying any issues that may impact the overall tender process early in the process.To set up and manage project teams that are formed to deliver on an acquisition or a new contract including chairing regular update meetings and ensure the transition timetables are being met.Be responsible for the maintenance of the database of contacts of Stakeholders including Directors of CCGs, Health Boards, specialist commissioners Local Authorities, Housing AssociationAble and confident to review project agreements, care specifications, service level agreements, contracts highlighting clauses that require modification/addition/deletion in order to meet the Company’s needsEssential CriteriaKnowledge of the care sector and how LAs/ICB procure contractsCommercial experience within a large care home operator group at a senior levelExperience leading end-to-end acquisitions in the health and social care sectorExtensive experience in a senior commercial leadership roleStrong negotiation and stakeholder management skills to secure contractsHigh attention to detail and ability to review and negotiate commissioning contractsAbility to build relationships with stakeholders and be confident in presenting proposalsEffective written and verbal communication skillsProven record of being able to prioritise work in an environment which has conflicting pressures and demandsBe approachable, responsive and proactiveValid driving license and use of own car for work purposesDesirable CriteriaPrevious experience of contract negotiation in a professional service settingRelevant qualifications in bid writing and project managementExperience of commissioning portals and application processes
