Summary

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a passionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a warm and inclusive school based in Exeter. This is a full-time position offering the chance to make a real difference to the lives of children and young people with additional learning needs.

As an SEN TA, you'll support students on a one-to-one or small-group basis, helping them access the curriculum, build confidence, and develop essential life skills. Working in close partnership with teachers and other professionals, you'll be part of a supportive team that's deeply committed to inclusive education across Exeter and surrounding areas.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide learning and emotional support for pupils with a range of special educational needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
- Assist in preparing tailored learning resources and adapting lesson materials to meet individual targets.
- Help manage classroom behaviour using Team Teach, PMVA, or similar positive behaviour management approaches.
- Contribute to the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and student progress reviews.
- Support the class teacher with lesson delivery, assessments, and daily routines.
- Encourage a calm, engaging, and inclusive learning environment.

What You'll Bring

We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with children and young people, and who approaches each day with patience, empathy, and resilience.

To be successful in this role, you should have:
- Experience supporting students with special educational needs in a school, care, or youth work environment.
- A calm and nurturing manner, with the ability to build trusting relationships with pupils.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Confidence in managing challenging situations professionally and sensitively.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or health and social care are highly desirable, but a strong passion for SEN support and the willingness to learn are equally valued.

Desirable Experience
- Understanding of Autism, ADHD, and communication disorders.
- Previous training in Team Teach, MAPA, or PBM.
- Familiarity with safeguarding frameworks and education plans (EHCPs).
- Ability to adapt to different school settings and learning environments.

Why Work With Us

You'll be joining a school that values collaboration, respect, and creativity. Staff are encouraged to grow and develop through continuous training and mentorship.

In return, you'll receive:
- A competitive hourly rate of £19.05.
- Support from a welcoming and professional team.
- Ongoing CPD opportunities, including behaviour management and safeguarding training.
- Full-time working hours aligned with the school term.
- The chance to make a lasting impact on the lives of students with SEN across Exeter and nearby communities.

Your Impact

Every day you'll play a key role in helping children overcome barriers to learning - celebrating their achievements, big or small, and supporting their journey towards independence and confidence. This is an incredibly rewarding role for someone who wants to make a difference within the education sector.
