Summary

Roles that require PVG Membership

Please note that with effect from 1 April 2023, where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above. (Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 11 and above (currently £31,505 per annum / £17.31 per hour)

The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee’s first FULL month’s salary payment.

Job purpose/about the role

To provide technical support which contributes to maintaining the road network in good condition. This includes the necessary steps to fulfil the Council's responsibilities as Roads Authority, to assist the Engineering Team Leader in carrying out works in accordance with the New Road and Street Works Act, Roads (Scotland) Act, Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions etc.

The post holder needs to hold as a minimum:

• Standard grades or equivalent, including Maths and English, to enable entry onto an
appropriate HNC course
• Full UK Driver License

The postholder is able to demonstrate:

• Proven ability to use a range of computer-based systems including Office 365 packages
and Microsoft Teams
• Ability to work independently or within a multi-disciplined team environment
• Proven ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
