About SoLO
Social Life Opportunities (SoLO) is a registered charity supporting children, young people, and adults with learning disabilities to thrive. Through specialist services and social activities, we help service users build confidence, learn new skills, and achieve their full potential.

The Role
We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to provide 2:1 support to a gentleman participating in group activities both in-house and in the community. Activities are chosen by the members and include everything from in-house sessions to day trips. These sessions focus on developing independence, wellbeing, social communication skills, and inclusion.

This is a hands-on, direct support role, so candidates must be caring, patient, and skilled at communicating with people who may find it difficult to express themselves. A great sense of humour is essential, as well as the ability to take responsibility and ensure the safety and quality of life for the people you support.

Important Requirement:

Driver with Business Insurance required to transport service users to and from the day provision in South Solihull.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide person-centred, hands-on support in group and community activities.

Support service users to achieve goals in their individual support plans.

Maintain accurate records, including incident reports, medication checks, and service user registers.

Communicate effectively with Line Managers, service users, and families/carers.

Ensure adherence to SoLO’s policies, safeguarding procedures, and health & safety guidelines.

Attend training, 1:1 sessions, and team meetings as required.

Person Specification:

Essential:

Relevant care qualification (or willingness to work towards).

GCSEs in English and Maths (or equivalent).

Experience working in care or community settings.

Understanding of the needs of people with learning disabilities.

Knowledge of person-centred support, positive behaviour support, safeguarding, and confidentiality.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team, manage workload, and prioritise tasks.

Strong planning, organisational, and IT skills.

Caring, kind, and excellent communication skills.

Ability to maintain safety and quality of life for vulnerable adults.

A good sense of humour.

Desirable:

Experience in service delivery.

Benefits:

31 days annual leave including bank holidays (pro rata).

Comprehensive training and development opportunities.

Company sick pay, pension scheme, and Employee Assistance Programme.

Supportive and inclusive work culture.

Safeguarding & Equality:
SoLO is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our service users. We welcome applications from all individuals regardless of ethnicity, religion, age, disability, sexuality, or responsibilities for dependents.
