Working alongside the Principal and Chief Examiners to standardise and support a team of markers through the summer marking period:
• Attend, participate and engage in and support standardisation activities
• Act as a marker for the assessment for your own small allocation
• Sample and monitor the work of markers throughout the marking period to ensure consistency of marking
• Participate in marker monitoring studies, if requested by City & Guilds
• Alert Principal Examiner and City & Guilds contacts to under performance of individual markers
• Collate examiner reports and submit within the specified time
• Provide online and/or telephone first line support to markers, where appropriate. This could be at evenings and weekends as agreed with team members
• Provide feedback to markers on their performance
• Complete reviews of marking (ROMs) post-results where available
Key dates Exam date: 3rd June 2026
Marker Training: 15th May or 1st June - 1/2 day (remote). This will be a workshop session for markers with the Principal Examiner. There will also be online training available to self-serve. A preparation activity (approx. 2 hours) will be given to be completed ahead of training
Senior Standardisation: 9th-10th June 2026 - 2 days (remote)
Marker Standardisation: 11th June 2026 -1-day (remote) A preparation activity will be given to be completed ahead of the senior standardisation meeting (approx. 2 hours) Attending Standardisation and completing related activities is compulsory for this role
Marking window: Mid-June to early July - 2-3 weeks
Reviews of marking (ROMs): Late August-September. 1/2-day training (remote) in August. ROM requests will be allocated on an ad hoc basis
