Summary

This is a genuinely unique opportunity to join the Cabinet and Committee Team within the Central Secretariat in the Cabinet Office, the heart of government. The Cabinet and Committee Team is the secretariat to the weekly meeting of the Cabinet of the United Kingdom and provides policy advice on and oversight of the functioning of the Prime Minister’s Cabinet committee structure. As the Cabinet Secretariat Officer, you will be providing the core secretariat function, organising and delivering the Prime Minister’s weekly Cabinet meeting.

We are seeking a self-starting, motivated and detail focused individual for this role. This ranges from coordinating logistics with No10 and ministers offices across government, through to delivering the meeting itself and working with senior secretariat to produce the minute of discussions. The postholder will also assist in the delivery of other Cabinet Committee meetings.

You will need strong written and verbal communication skills, take pride in attention to detail and demonstrate sound judgement and the ability to manage confidential information with discretion. Although working under a Senior Cabinet Adviser and within a larger team, you must be self-motivated and proactive.

The role sits in the Central Secretariat. The Central Secretariat provides the highest quality support to Cabinet and its committees. We are the policy advisers on the effective functioning of Cabinet Government and provide direct secretariat support to meetings of the Cabinet and Cabinet Committees.

The successful candidate will be responsible for holding relationships with Ministerial Private Office contacts across Whitehall, and be confident working closely with a wide range of colleagues across the Cabinet Office, No10 and other government departments. They will have strong written and verbal communication skills and take pride in having a keen attention to detail.
