Summary


An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Band 6 Paediatric Dietitian to join our dynamic and supportive paediatric dietetic team atHomerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. The post holder will provide specialist dietetic care to infants, children and young people across acute and community settings, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, evidence-based nutrition support.

This varied role includes dietetic input to paediatric inpatients, specialist outpatient clinics and community caseloads, covering a wide range of clinical areas such as faltering growth, gastrointestinal disorders, food allergy, enteral feeding and complex nutritional needs including prematurity. The post holder will manage their own caseload and designated ward with support from senior dietitians, while contributing to service development and clinical governance activities.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong clinical reasoning, excellent communication skills and a compassionate, family-centred approach. They will also support training for staff, students and families, and contribute to audit and quality-improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery.
• To provide specialist dietetic assessment, treatment, and advice for infants, children, and young people across both acute and community settings.
• To manage a designated paediatric caseload, including inpatients, outpatients, and community patients, prioritising and organising workload effectively.
• To work as part of the multidisciplinary team in both hospital and community environments, contributing to the holistic care and nutritional management of children with a range of clinical conditions including faltering growth, gastrointestinal disorders, food allergy, and enteral feeding.
• To provide evidence-based, family-centered nutritional care and clear dietary advice to children, parents, carers, and healthcare professionals.
• To monitor, evaluate, and adapt dietary interventions to ensure optimal outcomes for growth and nutritional status.
• To contribute to service development, policy review, and clinical governance, including participation in audits, quality improvement projects, and research initiatives.
• To provide education and training to healthcare professionals, dietetic students, and families on paediatric nutrition and dietetic management.
• To maintain accurate and timely clinical records in accordance with professional and trust standards.
• To participate in regular supervision, appraisal, and continuing professional development to enhance and maintain specialist paediatric dietetic competencies.
