About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Corporate Support Manager to lead our Corporate Services Team and fulfil the statutory role of Data Protection Officer (DPO). This pivotal post ensures the Council’s compliance with Access to Information legislation, including the Freedom of Information Act, Environmental Information Regulations, and the Data Protection Act.

As the Corporate Support Manager, you will:
• Lead and manage the Council’s corporate complaints procedure, acting as an independent investigating officer.
• Provide expert advice to senior managers and elected members on information governance and data protection.
• Act as the Council’s single point of contact for the Information Commissioner’s Office and the Local Government Ombudsman.
• Oversee the corporate support team providing support to the senior leadership of the council
Key Responsibilities
• Coordinate and respond to complex information requests
• Manage a team of staff, ensuring high performance and professional development.
• Develop and maintain policies for information sharing, complaints handling, and document retention.
• Monitor compliance and performance, mitigating risks of legal challenge or financial penalties.
• Liaise with internal departments, elected members, external bodies, and the public.

What We’re Looking For
• Proven experience in information governance, complaints handling, and corporate administration.
• Strong understanding of UK GDPR, FOI, EIR, and records management legislation.
• Excellent communication, analytical, and leadership skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality services under pressure.
• A commitment to transparency, continuous improvement, and customer-focused service delivery.
