The Isle of Wight Council is seeking a proactive and knowledgeable Health and Safety Adviser to join our dedicated team. This is a key role supporting the Council’s commitment to maintaining high standards of health, safety, occupational health and wellbeing across all services.
Key Responsibilities:
Draft and implement health and safety policies and procedures
Provide expert Safety advice to managers and staff
Complete comprehensive safety audits of Council services, premises and schools
Review and investigate reports of accidents, incidents, and near misses
Deliver approved health and safety training packages
Conduct stress risk assessments and wellbeing surveys to support staff welfare.
What We’re Looking For:
Proven experience in a health and safety advisory role, ideally within a public sector, school or multi-service environment.
Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and best practice.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and support a wide range of stakeholders.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
