Summary

MECHANICAL AP

Salary: £50,000 - £55,000 per annum
Working Hours: Permanent, Full Time, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday between 08.00 - 17.00
Location: Churchill Hospital, Oxford, OX3 7LE

As Mechanical AP you will supervise and manage a dedicated team to maintain and repair essential building systems. You'll be responsible for coordinating work, ensuring compliance, and fostering a high-performing maintenance culture.

Main Responsibilities:
Maintenance & Technical Operations:
Planning & Execution: Effectively plan and execute all types of work: planned maintenance, projects, reactive repairs, and remedial work within scope and quality standards.
Reactive Work: Safely and effectively deal with reactive breakdowns, prioritizing tasks according to the site's payment/contract mechanism (e.g., PFI/PPP).
Documentation: Create and review Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) and Safe Systems of Work (SSoW). Review and create maintenance reports and technical procedures.
Technical Guidance: Follow detailed drawings and operational maintenance manuals for all tasks.
Call-Out: Participate in emergency call-out arrangements and provide cover for sickness absence.

Technical Leadership & Supervision:
Mechanical Technical Lead: Act as the technical lead on Mechanical services, overseeing a team performing maintenance, inspections, and repairs on various systems, including ventilation and medical gas equipment/services.
Fault Diagnosis: Supervise the diagnosis of faults and ensure rectification within the team's and individual's competence levels.
Authorised Person (AP) Roles: Act as the APMGPS (Authorised Person Medical Gas Pipeline Systems) and APVENT (Authorised Person Ventilation), including the planning of specialist tasks.
Competent Person Appointments: Appoint Competent Persons within areas of expertise.
H&S & Electrical:Act as a senior electrician (implying dual-skill or H&S/senior role) and a formal Health & Safety promoter.

Essential:
Ability to undertake training and be appointed as APVENT & APMGPS
Experience of mentoring, motivating and developing staff
Mechanical core trade discipline
