Location: Openshaw, Manchester
Pay rate: £102-£115 per day (depending on experience)
Hours: 8:30 am - 3:40pm
Contract: ASAP, Ongoing - Long Term position with option of temp to perm
We're working with a fantastic Primary School who need an experienced and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to join their fantastic inclusion team. This is a long-term role supporting pupils within the school's internal alternative provision, working across two specialist classrooms.
About the role:
You'll be working alongside a supportive SEN teacher and a strong team of staff to help pupils with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs and social communication difficulties (including autism, ADHD and attachment needs).
Your time will be split between two classes:
- A Years 2-5 SEMH provision, supporting children who access the curriculum but need help managing their emotions and behaviour.
- A Reception-Year 2 provision for pupils with social communication and learning needs. Some children are non-verbal, have developing toileting independence, and require elements of personal care.
Key responsibilities:
- Supporting children 1:1 and in small groups with learning, communication and emotional regulation
- Using communication boards and visual supports to aid understanding
- Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional expression through consistent strategies
- Assisting with self-care and personal development routines
- Working collaboratively with the SEN teacher and wider staff team
About you:
- Experienced in supporting pupils with autism, ADHD or SEMH needs
- Calm, patient and emotionally resilient when managing challenging situations
- Team Teach trained (or willing to undertake training)
- Compassionate and committed to helping every child reach their potential
