SEN Teaching Assistant - Gorton
Location: Gorton
⏰ Hours: 8:30am - 3:30pm, Monday to Friday
Pay: From £102 per day
Start: Immediate / Ongoing
About the Role
We are currently seeking experienced and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to join a specialist provision within a mainstream school in the Gorton area. This role involves supporting pupils with a range of complex needs across the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Key Stage 2.
You will be working within a specialist unit supporting:
- EYFS pupils who are non-verbal and require personal care
- KS2 pupils (Years 3-6) with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, some of whom may display challenging or violent behaviours
The ideal candidate will be confident managing a variety of needs, providing consistent support, and helping students access learning in a safe and nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with additional needs
- Assist with communication, emotional regulation, and behaviour management
- Support with personal care tasks when required
- Work collaboratively with teachers and the wider SEN team
- Maintain a calm, positive and professional approach at all times
Requirements:
- Previous experience working as a SEN TA or supporting children with special educational needs ideally Autism
- A calm, nurturing, and proactive approach to supporting children's learning and development
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- An Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 TA, SEN, or equivalent) - desirable but not essential
