SEN Teaching Assistant (TA) Roles - Secondary Schools, Manchester
Are you a resilient, compassionate, and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant ready to support young people with complex needs in a Secondary setting?
We are actively recruiting dedicated and skilled SEN TAs to join specialist units, inclusion teams, and mainstream classrooms in secondary schools across Greater Manchester. We have immediate, high-demand positions available for both Temp/Supply and Permanent contracts.
The Specialist Role: Making a Meaningful DifferenceAs an SEN TA in a secondary school (KS3 & KS4), you will be the core support system for students with Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs) and other learning barriers. Your responsibilities will focus on:

EHCP Implementation: Working 1:1 or in small groups to deliver specific learning, social, and emotional targets outlined in student plans.

Behavioural Support: Utilizing de-escalation strategies and positive handling techniques (Team Teach/MAPA experience desirable) to manage challenging behaviour safely and effectively.

Complex Needs: Supporting students with a range of needs, including Autism (ASD), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH), Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD), and specific learning difficulties.

Promoting Inclusion: Modifying and adapting learning materials to ensure students can access the curriculum alongside their peers.

Reporting & Tracking: Providing detailed feedback on student progress against their individual goals to the SENCO and class teachers.

Mandatory Experience: Prior, demonstrable experience supporting students with SEN (particularly ASD, SEMH, or complex needs) within a school setting.

Specialist Skills: Familiarity with communication methods (e.g., PECS, Makaton) or behaviour intervention training (Team Teach, etc.) is highly desirable.

Qualifications: Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent experience/qualification in a related field).

Resilience & Empathy: A naturally patient, compassionate, and resilient approach to supporting vulnerable young people.

DBS: A clear and current Enhanced DBS (or immediate willingness to apply).
