Are you an experienced Veterinary Surgeon who loves surgery and is ready to take the next step into a senior role? We’re looking for a confident vet with around 4–5+ years in practice to join the friendly team at a long-established independent team in Broxbourne, a lovely spot with countryside walks, a strong local community, and a quick train ride into London when you fancy a change of pace.
This role is all about balance: professional growth, rewarding work, and a genuine quality of life. You’ll take the lead in surgery — particularly soft tissue — while still enjoying a nice mix of consults and ultrasound work. You’ll also work closely with visiting orthopaedic and cardiology specialists, so there’s always something new to learn and someone to bounce ideas off. They’re proud to be a small, close-knit team that really supports each other, and you'll be working with 3 experienced vets and 6 fantastic nurses. They have excellent staff retention which says a lot about the culture; they look after their people just as well as their patients!
If you’re looking for a place where your experience will be valued, where you’ll have the freedom to shape your role, and where you can continue developing without losing your evenings and weekends, this could be just what you’ve been looking for. You’ll need to be confident in surgery and scanning, comfortable chatting with clients, and someone who enjoys being part of a supportive, easy-going team. In return, you’ll get a flexible four-day week, no OOHs, five weeks of holiday plus bank holidays, and plenty of CPD support — including funded certificates if you’re keen to take your skills even further.
It’s a rare thing these days to find an independent practice offering this kind of stability, flexibility, and career development. If that sounds like the right fit for you, we’d love to have a chat!
The Rota:
• 4 days per week, flexible 10 hour shifts including early and late starts (practice is open between 9am–7pm)
• 1 in 4 Saturday mornings (9am–1pm)
• No OOHs
The Package:
• Salary up to £80,000 DOE
• 5 weeks’ holiday plus bank holidays
• Enhanced annual leave after 2 years
• £1,500 CPD allowance for 5 days
• RCVS fees paid
