Summary

About the role:

Roy Kinnear House is home to six individuals with profound and multiple learning disabilities, physical disabilities, and complex health needs. This is a truly rewarding opportunity to play a vital role in enhancing their quality of life and supporting them to live with dignity, comfort, and joy.

As a Nurse you will be responsible for:

• Providing clinical care over daily support needs, including nutrition and hydration, monitoring of vital signs, postural care, catheter care, administration of medication, including injections, suctioning and wound management.

• Maintaining shift leadership over people’s care and support and providing direction to the team on duty.

• Writing and monitoring support plans, risk assessments, clinical protocols, guidelines etc

• Assist in direct management and supervision of support staff, including conducting observational feedback sessions.

• Ensuring all support staff adhere to support documents in relation to all aspects of people’s care and support.

• Overseeing compliance with health and safety policies and procedures.

Hours:

Part time, 25 hours per week.

Location:

Twickenham with public transport close by. Strawberry hill station is 3-5 minutes walk and the closest bus stop is 1-2 minutes walk.

Pay:

£20 per hour, an additional £1.00 per hour Mon-Fri nights (10:00pm to 6:00am) and on Saturdays and Sundays.

£1000 (pro rata for part time) is paid on the anniversary of your appointment as a Nurse at Roy Kinnear House after 01 April. T&C’s apply.

About you:

Are you an RGN/ RNLD qualified Nurse with a passion for delivering outstanding care?

The ideal candidate for this role will meet the following criteria:

• Level 1 Registered General Nurse or Learning Disabilities Nurse

• At least two years’ experience of working with people in a community setting.

• Proficient skills and knowledge of supporting with PEG and PEJ, epilepsy, oral suctioning, monitoring of vital signs, postural care, tissue viability, catheter care, administration of medication, including injections

• A strong commitment to ensuring high quality support is being provided

• Ability to communicate and interact effectively with people who communicate verbally and non-verbally, including understanding of PECs

• Ability to develop good working relationships internally & externally

• Knowledge & experience of problem solving and looking for creative solutions

• Compassionate, caring, observant and genuine within interactions

• Proactive within their responsibilities
