Summary

ABOUT THE ROLE:

We’re looking for an Employment Coach to join our team, working in close partnership with Turning Point to deliver life-changing employment support for people in Oldham and Rochdale who are accessing community drug and alcohol treatment services. Using the Individual Placement Service (IPS) approach, you’ll help individuals on their recovery journey, supporting them to secure and sustain meaningful work that aids their wellbeing and long-term independence.

Within your role, you will manage a caseload of approximately 25 clients, providing 1:1 coaching and guidance. You’ll tailor person-centred employment plans that improve confidence, build skills, and create pathways into volunteering, training, and sustainable paid employment. Alongside this, you’ll source job opportunities, engage directly with local employers, and provide in-work support to ensure positive and lasting outcomes.

Collaboration is at the heart of this role. You’ll work closely with Turning Point colleagues, attend multidisciplinary team meetings, and build effective relationships with clinical staff and external partners to ensure joined-up support. By developing strong employer links and advocating for inclusive workplaces, you’ll not only challenge barriers and inequalities but also create opportunities that help people realise their potential and thrive in recovery.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

This role will suit someone with experience of working with people facing complex challenges and a strong track record of supporting individuals to achieve their goals, including finding and sustaining employment. You’ll bring proven experience of working one-to-one with people, helping them identify their needs, build confidence, and stay motivated to achieve positive outcomes.

We’re looking for someone with excellent communication, listening, and interpersonal skills; a natural relationship-builder who can engage effectively with participants, clinical teams, employers, and other partners.

Strong organisational ability, attention to detail, and proactive diary management will help you succeed in a structured, target-driven environment. And a good understanding of the challenges faced by people who experience labour market exclusion, alongside knowledge of the local labour market and recruitment processes, will enable you to open up opportunities.

Confidence with IT systems such as MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint are a given in this role, plus you’ll also have the flexibility to pick up new tools as needed.
