We’re supporting a local primary school to recruit a dedicated and skilled Safeguarding Officer to join their team on a permanent, term-time basis (37 hours per week, 39 weeks per year).
This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in ensuring the safety, welfare, and wellbeing of children across the school and nursery.
The Role
As the school’s Safeguarding Officer, you will work as part of the Safeguarding and Attendance Team, acting as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) and promoting the highest standards of pupil welfare.
You’ll coordinate safeguarding procedures, improve attendance, and support children and families through early intervention and pastoral care.
Key responsibilities include:
Acting as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL), ensuring effective safeguarding practice
Monitoring and improving pupil attendance and punctuality
Conducting home visits and liaising with parents and carers
Maintaining accurate safeguarding and welfare records using CPOMS
Supporting cared-for children and managing PEP targets
Coordinating with external agencies and local authorities
Delivering assemblies and workshops to promote wellbeing, safety, and attendance
Providing guidance to staff to ensure safeguarding policies are followed consistently
About You
You’ll be a compassionate and confident professional with the ability to handle sensitive situations and build strong relationships with children and families.
You will have:
A degree or equivalent qualification in social care, education, youth work, or related field
Up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding legislation and child protection procedures
Experience working in a pastoral, welfare, or safeguarding capacity within education
Excellent communication and organisation skills
A flexible, proactive, and empathetic approach
