Summary

Your new company
Hays Education is working in partnership with a well-regarded secondary school in Blackpool to recruit a Behaviour Specialist Teaching Assistant to join their pastoral and inclusion team after the October half-term. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about supporting young people who face barriers to learning due to behavioural or emotional challenges.
Your new role
In this role, you will work closely with teaching staff, pastoral leads, and the SENCO to support students who require additional behavioural and emotional guidance. Your responsibilities will include delivering 1:1 and small group interventions focused on behaviour management and emotional regulation, supporting students in mainstream classrooms to stay engaged, and helping to implement and monitor individual behaviour plans. Building positive relationships with students will be key to promoting self-esteem and resilience, and you may also be involved in liaising with parents, carers, and external agencies.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful, you should have experience working with young people with behavioural needs, ideally within a school or youth setting. A calm, empathetic, and resilient approach is essential, along with strong communication and de-escalation skills. A genuine passion for making a difference in young people's lives is vital. Relevant qualifications such as Team Teach or CACHE are desirable but not essential.
What you'll get in return
In return, you'll be joining a supportive school environment where your contribution will be valued. You'll benefit from ongoing professional development, competitive rates of pay, and dedicated support from your Hays consultant throughout your placement.
What you need to do now
If you're ready to take the next step in your education support career, apply today or contact Lucy McDowell at Hays Education for more information. 01772 201513
