An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lead Pharmacist – Orthopaedics to join our dedicated Pharmacy Department at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals. In this role, you will work alongside the Lead Pharmacist – General Surgery to lead and enhance the clinical pharmacy service dedicated to the Surgical Division. We are seeking a pharmacist with a solid background in hospital pharmacy or equivalent relevant experience. The appointed candidate will operate at a senior level within the service, assuming an influential role in patient care pathways while further developing their clinical expertise. This multifaceted position offers substantial opportunities for advancement in both clinical practice and leadership. There is potential for clinical participation in the orthogeriatric subspecialty. Collaboration with the multidisciplinary team is essential to promote clinical and cost-effective prescribing practices based on evidence-based guidelines. The post holder will be responsible for developing, auditing, and monitoring Medicines Management processes within the service, as well as providing training and supervision to departmental staff. Strong communication and leadership abilities are required, alongside proven experience in a clinical environment and successful completion of a postgraduate diploma in clinical pharmacy. Evidence of prior multidisciplinary teamwork is highly desirable. Comprehensive training and support will be offered. A commitment to ongoing professional development is expected, and possession of a prescribing qualification or willingness to obtain one is anticipated.
The Pharmacy Department at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals is a large department (over 150 staff) and a friendly environment with established senior support. We are dedicated to education and professional development and encourage/support ongoing education. We have a very favourable oncall commitment, that all pharmacists in the department contribute to.
