Summary

Heritage Collections Assistant

What you'll be doing

Are you passionate about preserving history and enhancing access to heritage collections? The UK Parliament is seeking a Heritage Collections Information Assistant to join the Strategic Estates team, supporting the professional management of three nationally and internationally significant collections: the Parliamentary Art Collection, Historic Furniture and Decorative Arts, and Architectural Fabric.

In this role, you'll play a key part in improving and streamlining collection documentation, supporting data cleansing and preparation for migration to a new Collections Management System (CMS). You'll work both independently and collaboratively across the Parliamentary Estate and storage facilities, ensuring information is accurate, standardised, and aligned with SPECTRUM documentation standards.

This role is offered on a hybrid working basis, with a mix of on-site and remote work.

What we're looking for

We're seeking detail-oriented, collaborative professionals who are passionate about heritage and collections management. You'll thrive in this role if you bring:

  • Experience working with collections documentation in a museum, historic building or heritage institution
  • Experience using heritage sector collections management software
  • Strong understanding of documentation standards (SPECTRUM) across diverse object types
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage large volumes of data accurately
  • Good organisation and time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Understanding of rights management principles
  • A commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion in all aspects of work
