Hays Education are working in partnership with a well-regarded school in Wigan to recruit a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team after the October half term. Your new role
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Support pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs on a 1:1 and small group basis.
- Help create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
- Work closely with teaching staff, SENCOs, and external agencies to implement tailored support strategies.
- Promote positive behaviour and emotional resilience in pupils.
What you'll need to succeed
- Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs (in education, care, or youth settings).
- A calm, patient, and empathetic approach.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A genuine passion for helping young people overcome barriers to learning.
