Summary

Disability Support Worker
Making Every Day Count for Children with Additional Needs

We are seeking a kind, patient, and dedicated Disability Support Worker to join the team at a welcoming special school in the Whitehaven area. In this role, you will be a lifeline of support for pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and non-verbal communication needs.

Your work will go far beyond the classroom - you will be someone who helps children connect with the world around them, access learning in ways that work for them, and experience the joy and achievement that every child deserves.

We are looking for someone who sees the person before the disability - someone who understands that a small breakthrough can mean the world. You will bring:

Previous experience supporting children or adults with PMLD, ASD, or non-verbal needs (highly desirable)

A relevant qualification such as Teaching Assistant, Health and Social Care, or equivalent

Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available.
