Summary

What skills and experience we're looking for

Under the direction of the Senior Leadership Team, provide vision, leadership and day-to-day operational management of the delivery of Maths within the school.

To drive forward the strategic direction and development of the Mathematics department.

Secure high-quality teaching, curriculum planning and effective use of resources to achieve the highest standards of achievement for all students.

Contribute to the development and realisation of the whole school core values, the aims, vision and ethos of the school.

Ensure effective quality assurance outcomes for the subject which meet the high standards expected by the school.

The successful candidate will have:-

• Good quality Honours degree in an appropriate discipline.
• PGCE or equivalent in secondary education with relevant subject specialism.
• Qualified Teacher Status.

An 11 – 19 secondary school which opened in September 2018, Derby Cathedral School was established by Derby Diocesan Academy Trust (DDAT) and Derby Cathedral to help meet the need for additional high-quality secondary places in the Derby area. The school has had a successful start and is currently over-subscribed for every year group. We currently have over 1200 students across Years 7 to 13 following the opening of our brand new sixth form provision in September 2023.

Derby Cathedral School is the first ever Church of England Secondary school in the Diocese and after being in our temporary school for the first three years, moved to our new state-of-the-art building in September 2021. This is located close to the city centre.

The school equips students with skills and qualifications that will enable them to access high-quality careers in and around the city of Derby and beyond. The curriculum offer is broad and balanced and is enhanced by strong links with the Cathedral. The curriculum and our character values, based on the acronym FAITH, are a key part of the school vision and represent a platform from which we build high levels of personal development, well-being and achievement from Year 7 onwards.
