BSL Teaching Assistant – SEN School
Brent, North West London

The Role – BSL Teaching Assistant

• Full-time, long-term role starting immediately
• Support students with hearing impairments, autism, and additional SEN needs
• Provide 1:1 and small-group support, using BSL to aid communication and learning
• Help pupils with emotional regulation, social interaction, and daily routines
• Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and therapists to deliver tailored learning plans
• Contribute to an inclusive, engaging classroom environment where every student can thrive

Person Specification

• Degree in Psychology, Special Education, or a related subject (essential)
• Proficiency in British Sign Language (minimum Level 2 qualification required; Level 3 preferred)
• Previous experience supporting young people with SEN (desirable but not essential)
• Empathetic, patient, and resilient, with excellent communication skills
• A genuine passion for SEN education and helping vulnerable learners succeed
