The Role – BSL Teaching Assistant
• Full-time, long-term position starting September 2025.
• Work closely with students with hearing impairments, autism, and additional SEN needs.
• Provide 1:1 and small-group support, using BSL to aid communication and learning.
• Support pupils with emotional regulation, daily routines, and social interaction.
• Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and therapists to deliver individual learning plans.
• Assist in creating an inclusive classroom environment where all students can thrive.
Person Specification
• Minimum degree in Psychology, Special Education, or a similar field (essential).
• Proficiency in British Sign Language (minimum Level 2 qualification required; Level 3 preferred).
• Experience supporting young people with SEN (desirable but not essential).
• Empathetic, patient, and resilient with strong communication skills.
• Passion for working in SEN education and helping vulnerable learners succeed.
