Summary
Job Description Salaried GP Job title: Salaried GP Line manager: Practice Manager Accountable to: The Partners (clinically) and the Practice Manager (administratively) Job Summary The Salaried GP will work as an autonomous practitioner, responsible for providing medical services to the practice population and delivering a high standard of clinical care in line with the GMS contract. The post-holder will comply with GMC standards for Good Medical Practice, contribute to the effective management of the practice, and maintain positive working relationships across the multidisciplinary team. Primary Responsibilities The core responsibilities of the role include: Delivering safe, effective medical care to patients registered with the practice. Providing services in line with the GMS contract. Prescribing in accordance with national and local guidance. Managing patients with long-term conditions and complex health needs. Completing administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescriptions, lab results, workflow tasks and associated documentation. Undertaking consultations in line with the practice timetable, including face-to-face, telephone, video and online consultations, duty doctor sessions, and occasional home visits. Maintaining accurate clinical records in line with practice policy and clinical guidance. Sharing practice workload fairly and working collaboratively with colleagues. Adhering to best practice as set out in clinical guidelines and through audit processes. Contributing to continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice. Taking delegated responsibility for specific areas of QOF. Attending and contributing to practice meetings. Supporting clinical governance, audit and training activities. Complying with appraisal and revalidation requirements. Committing to CPD and promoting a learning culture across the team. Supporting the training of medical students and other learners. Contributing to the strategic aims of the practice, including recommendations to improve efficiency, enhance income, and reduce expenditure. Following practice protocols and policies at all times. Promoting a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement. Undertaking all duties and responsibilities expected of a GP working within UK primary care. Secondary Responsibilities In addition, the post-holder may be required to: Participate in audits and service reviews. Support local and national initiatives to improve patient care and service delivery. Take part in the review of significant events and near-miss incidents using structured approaches such as root cause analysis (RCA). Confidentiality All staff must maintain the confidentiality of information relating to the practice, its staff and patients, in line with GDPR and other relevant legislation. Records Management Staff must ensure the timely and accurate creation, maintenance and storage of records (including clinical notes, administrative records and emails) in accordance with practice policies and statutory requirements such as GDPR and the Freedom of Information Act. Risk Management & Health & Safety All staff are responsible for safeguarding their own health and safety and that of others, and for working within relevant legislation including the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. Staff must follow practice health and safety policies and report concerns promptly. Safeguarding The practice is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. All staff are expected to share this commitment and act in accordance with local guidance and referral criteria. Security All staff are responsible for maintaining practice security, including keeping restricted areas locked and not sharing access codes. Any suspicious behaviour must be reported immediately. Service Implementation & Improvement Assist with safeguarding and referral processes. Understand legal and communication issues around child protection, domestic abuse, vulnerable adults, substance misuse and addictive behaviours. Contribute ideas to improve patient care and service delivery. Support the practice in achieving contractual and quality targets. Smoking Policy The practice operates a strict no-smoking policy. Staff must not smoke or use e-cigarettes on practice premises or while representing the practice.
