Your Role

As a Programme Assurance Officer in our Audit, Risk and Assurance Team, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring successful delivery across our projects and programmes.

You’ll work both independently and collaboratively, using your initiative to provide high-quality assurance services to our Executive Team. You’ll engage with Project and Programme Managers, technical experts, and senior stakeholders to deliver key assurance activities.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the delivery of our Integrated Assurance Strategy
  • Leading and contributing to Gateway Reviews, Health Checks, and other assurance activities
  • Producing robust, independent assurance reports on project and programme delivery

Who are we?

Welcome to the Risk and Assurance Team at Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) - a dynamic and forward-thinking organisation at the heart of one of the UK’s most ambitious transport transformations. We provide independent assurance to TfGM’s Executive and the Greater Manchester Combined Authority, helping to ensure the organisation has strong foundations to successfully deliver a large, complex, and technically diverse portfolio of capital and revenue projects.

We undertake assurance activities across our extensive portfolio of projects and programmes covering a significant number of areas within the different modes of transport infrastructure throughout Greater Manchester including Bus infrastructure, Metrolink, Rail, Electrification, Interchanges, Zero Emissions, Clean Air, Active Travel and Business Change just to name a few!

What you’ll bring

We’re looking for a versatile and experienced project professional who can contribute to the successful delivery of assurance activities across large and complex infrastructure projects.

To thrive in this role, you’ll bring:

  • Strong knowledge of project and programme management tools and methodologies, with experience across the full project lifecycle
  • A keen eye for detail, with the ability to identify risks and opportunities and provide clear, evidence-based recommendations
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the confidence to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels
  • The ability to work independently and collaboratively, using your initiative to deliver high-quality assurance services
  • A commitment to continuous improvement, learning, and adapting in a fast-paced and evolving environment

You’ll be comfortable working across a diverse portfolio and engaging with a wide range of professionals, from Project Managers and Technical Experts to Sponsors and Senior Responsible Owners.

This is a permanent role with a salary of £47,539 - £52,866 depending on skills and experience.
