3 Year FTC

Your role:

  • Greater Manchester Combined Authority’s Environment Team is looking for a Programme Support Officer to help deliver our ambitious Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP) programme, a key part of Greater Manchester’s 5-Year Environment Plan.

  • This is a dynamic and varied role supporting the development and delivery of SCP projects across the city-region. You’ll work with communities, schools, businesses, and local authorities to help drive forward our environmental priorities - from circular economy initiatives to sustainable lifestyle programmes.

  • While the role is hybrid, involving both office and home working, a significant portion of the role will require travel within the community to support delivery and engagement.

  • You’ll be part of a collaborative and forward-thinking team, providing high-quality project support, communications, and stakeholder engagement across a fast-evolving agenda.

About you:

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has experience supporting programmes and projects, ideally in an environmental or policy context
  • Is experienced in engaging with a wide range of stakeholders, including community groups, schools, and local authorities
  • Has excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Is proactive, adaptable, and able to manage multiple priorities
  • Shares our commitment to sustainability and inclusive delivery

If you’re passionate about making a difference and want to be part of a team contributing to the ambitions of the Greater Manchester Strategy, we’d love to hear from you.

This role is part of GMCA’s hybrid working scheme. As part of our commitment to ‘Build Back Fairer’ in Greater Manchester following the Covid-19 pandemic, we have evolved our management methods by trusting and empowering staff to deliver their work in the best way that suits the business and their individual needs, and supports health and wellbeing. If appointed to the role you will work with your manager to agree and regularly review the best working pattern for you, your team and your work.
