Summary

Are you looking for a rewarding new challenge? Do you enjoy working with children and young people and making a positive impact in their lives? We have an exciting opportunity to join Marjorie House, our beautiful Emotional Wellbeing Assessment Home in Coalville. Supporting children and young people aged 8–18, the home provides short-term placements for up to three young people at a time, offering a safe and nurturing environment where they can explore new experiences, build friendships, and develop confidence, independence, and emotional resilience.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Residential Support Worker, you will:

Build trusting, nurturing relationships that promote each young person's independence, wellbeing, and personal growth.
Work collaboratively with parents/carers and professionals to support holistic care.
Contribute to the day-to-day running of the home, including cooking, cleaning, and maintaining a welcoming environment.
Accurately document and maintain records in line with safeguarding and regulatory standards.
Promote and maintain a safe, supportive environment at all times.
Uphold safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure the protection of all service users.
Essential Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must evidence in your application:

Hold a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare, or be willing to achieve this within the required timeframe.
Be motivated by the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in young people's lives.
Demonstrate a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
Be flexible and committed to working sleep-ins, shifts, weekends, and bank holidays.
Have relevant experience working with children and young people (desirable but not essential with the right attitude and willingness to learn).

Barnardo's, the UK's largest children's charity, is proud to be working in partnership with Leicestershire County Council to deliver a range of innovative children's homes for the most vulnerable young people in the region.

While Marjorie House will be your primary base, occasional travel across Leicestershire may be required to support other homes.
