Summary

Permit Coordinator - 12 month Fixed Term Contract
Hull City Council is seeking to recruit a Permit Coordinator to join our busy Street Works Permit Team on a 12 month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave. The successful candidate will work within a fast-paced office environment, providing daily IT and clerical support while assisting with the coordination of street works activities across the city.
As a Permit Coordinator, you will:

Oversee and coordinate street works operations, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, including the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 (NRSWA), the Traffic Management Act 2004 (TMA), and the Council’s Permit Scheme.
Support the smooth and efficient delivery of projects by liaising with internal teams, external partners, utility companies, contractors, and other stakeholders.
Help to ensure works are carried out to a high standard, minimising disruption to residents, businesses, and road users.

Key Responsibilities:

Plan, coordinate, and manage permit applications, variations, approvals, and refusals for street works activities, including roadworks, excavations, and repairs.
Ensure all works meet the required standards and comply fully with national legislation and local authority regulations.
Liaise effectively with utility companies, contractors, regulatory bodies, and other partners to secure necessary permits and approvals.
Use and maintain ICT systems, including the national Street Manager system, to process and monitor applications.

What we’re looking for:
We are seeking a hardworking, motivated team player with the ability to learn and adapt quickly. Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication are essential. Experience of working with ICT systems and databases would be an advantage, but full training will be provided.
