Summary
About the Role
This career-graded role offers a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of environmental regulation. You will lead on environmental permitting, ensuring emissions to land, air, and water are effectively controlled. You’ll provide expert advice to planning departments, support enforcement actions, and collaborate with national bodies on major infrastructure projects.
Grade 9 Responsibilities Include:
Acting as the Council’s lead on Environmental Permitting.
Inspecting and regulating industrial processes.
Advising on planning applications with potential environmental impacts.
Supporting work on contaminated land and atmospheric pollution.
Providing guidance to businesses and the public on environmental health matters.
Grade 10 Responsibilities Expand to:
Representing the Council nationally on Environmental Permitting issues.
Leading on complex planning consultations.
Advising on major Council projects with potential environmental impacts.
Mentoring junior officers and contributing to strategic policy development.
What We’re Looking For
Essential Qualifications:
Degree in Environmental Health or a science-related subject or equivalent experience.
Evidence of continuing professional development.
