Hays Recruitment are proud to be supporting a well-established SEND school in Warrington that supports pupils between the ages of 8 - 16 with SEMH difficulties as they are looking to appoint a motivated and reliable teaching assistant to support a male pupil in year 9 on a 1:1 basis. This is an extremely supporting and welcoming school that supports pupils with their academic and later life skills, assisting them to access their local communities and reach their full potential.

Your new role
As a teaching assistant within this school, you will be joining an extremely supportive and proactive team of like-minded education professionals. You will be supporting a pupil in year 9 on a 1:1 basis that has profound SEMH due to previous trauma within their home life. You will offer trauma-informed pupil-led support, working at the pupils' pace to ensure that they are aware that you are their to support them, not to discredit them. You will offer 1:1 interventions in key subjects to ensure that they keep up to speed with the curriculum as well as the delivery of a myriad of positive behaviour strategies that they respond to. This will mainly focus on positive reinforcement to build self-confidence. Over time, you will integrate them into new pupil groups to support their social development.

What you'll need to succeed
To be considered in your application, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK, a minimum of 40 days of referenceable classroom experience within the last 2 years, and:

  • Experience supporting SEMH and trauma
  • Be able to manage complex behaviours
  • Having an NVQ Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualification is advantageous
