Summary
The Automated Data Classification (ADC) Tool Support Engineer is a newly established position within the Threat & Information Security Team, part of the Cyber Defence and Risk (CyDR) directorate. This role is central to ensuring the ADC capability deployed across MOD’s Microsoft 365 Official environment is governed effectively, strategically aligned, and delivering meaningful insights to support cyber resilience.
Leading on stakeholder engagement across MOD, you’ll work closely with policy owners, technical teams, information governance bodies and operational users, to ensure the ADC capability is robust, scalable and aligned with MOD’s strategic cyber resilience objectives.
You’ll be responsible for ensuring classification rule sets are accurate, auditable and responsive to evolving data protection requirements, while also translating ADC outputs into actionable insights, that support compliance with MOD policies and enable informed decision-making at all levels.
Responsibilities
Establish and maintain governance frameworks for the ADC capability, ensuring alignment with MOD policies and supporting MOD’s strategic cyber resilience objectives.
Lead stakeholder engagement across MOD, working with policy owners, technical teams, information governance bodies, and operational users to ensure classification rule sets are accurate, auditable and responsive to evolving data protection requirements.
Translate ADC outputs into actionable insights, enabling informed decision-making, supporting compliance activities, and contributing to the development of strategic reporting and risk assessments.
Support continuous improvement of the ADC capability by identifying gaps, proposing enhancements, and collaborating with technical leads, to ensure the tool remains robust, scalable and fit for purpose.

This position can be based at either MOD Main Building, London SW1A 2HB or MOD Corsham, Wiltshire SN13 9NR. Work location will be agreed once the successful candidate has been selected.
