Summary
As a Change and Release Manager, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring the smooth and controlled delivery of changes to IT systems and services. You’ll manage the end-to-end change and release processes, ensuring that changes are implemented efficiently, with minimal disruption to services, and in alignment with organisational goals and governance frameworks.
You’ll collaborate with technical teams, project managers and stakeholders, to ensure that changes and releases are planned, tested and delivered effectively.
This role has scope for wide impact across and beyond the immediate organisation, to improve operational efficiency, levels and quality of service and influence the development of effective policies. You would have considerable discretion over day-to-day conduct and organisation of work.
Responsibilities
Oversee the change management process, ensuring all changes are logged, assessed, approved and implemented in line with organisational policies. Continually seek opportunities to improve the change and release processes, implementing best practices and automation where possible.
Act as the change practice manager, ensuring the eco-system is made aware, understands and complies with the change practice and the standard ways of working. Develop and maintain documentation, including policies, procedures, and audit trails for change and release activities.
Maintain and update the change management schedule, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting of all changes. Communicate effectively with stakeholders, providing updates on change and release schedules, risks, and outcomes.
Govern the forward schedule of change by planning, scheduling and coordinating software and hardware releases, across multiple environments. Ensure that all releases are tested, documented, and meet quality standards before deployment.
Manage dependencies and risks, ensuring alignment with business priorities, communicating to stakeholders and acting as the primary point of contact for change and release-related queries and escalations.
Work closely with development, testing, and operations teams to ensure seamless delivery of changes and releases. Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of change and release management activities.
Additional information
Dependent on the business need, there may be a requirement to travel to meetings within the UK (or potentially occasional overseas visits).
