About us

The Vale of Glamorgan is welcoming applications within its Families First Vale Parenting Service. Families First is a Welsh Government funded programme, helping to improve outcomes for children, young people and families, as well as supporting them to thrive and reach their potential.

The Vale Parenting Service support families with children between 0 -18 across the Vale of Glamorgan in order to build on strengths and make positive changes, enabling parents to feel more confident in managing; behaviour, routines and boundaries. We focus on promoting emotional wellbeing, and supporting positive family relationships. We deliver parenting programmes in a small group setting, or offer a 1:1 bespoke intervention in line with what the family see as the focus of support required.

About the role
Pay Details: Grade 6, SCP 14 - 19, £29,540 - £32,061
Hours of Work / Working Pattern: 5 days/ 37 hours
Main Place of Work: Community Enterprise Centre, Skomer Road, Barry
Temporary Reason: Welsh Government Funded role


Description:

This role will sit within the Vale Parenting Service in the Vale of Glamorgan, working in partnership with other local support services. The practitioner will deliver specific Parenting support, advice and guidance to families across the county. They will coordinate and facilitate the delivery of Parenting programmes for parents/ families, as well as providing 1-1 bespoke support both in the home and community.

About you/You will need:

2 years’ experience within family support field
Experience of facilitating group work with parents/carers
Experience of supporting families with complex needs
Experience of working using goal/outcome focussed tools
Ability to assess, plan, action, review and evaluate
Ability to communicate effectively and sensitively

(in both written and oral form)
