Job Summary
As a Carer with Elite at Home, you will provide compassionate, person-centred support to adults in their own homes. You’ll help people to maintain independence, dignity and quality of life through personal care, practical assistance and companionship. The role requires excellent communication, reliability, attention to detail, and a commitment to safeguarding and promoting wellbeing.
Key responsibilities
You will work to a personalised support plan and the organisation’s policies. Typical duties include helping with personal care (washing, dressing, toileting), supporting with medication prompts or administration where trained and authorised, assisting with meal preparation and dietary needs, supporting mobility and safe transfers, providing companionship and emotional support, promoting independence and daily living skills, shopping and household tasks as required, accurate record-keeping (daily notes, incident reporting), attending handovers and supervision, and reporting changes in the client’s health or environment to the registered manager or nominated clinician.
Day-to-day tasks (examples)
• Provide personal care in a respectful and discreet way, following care plans and risk assessments.
• Support clients with medication prompts or administration in line with organisational procedures.
• Assist with mobility, use of mobility aids and safe moving & handling techniques.
• Prepare simple, nutritious meals and support dietary plans.
• Complete accurate electronic or paper care records and communicate with family/health professionals as required.
• Promote social inclusion by supporting appointments, shopping or community activities.
• Maintain confidentiality, dignity and client choice at all times.
• Follow infection control procedures and maintain a clean, safe environment.
Person specification — essential
• A caring, patient and flexible attitude with strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to follow care plans, risk assessments and medication procedures.
• Good literacy and numeracy for record-keeping and medication checks.
• Willingness to undertake mandatory training (Care Certificate, moving & handling, safeguarding, infection control, medication, etc.).
• Right to work in the UK and willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
• Reliable attendance, timekeeping and the ability to travel between clients (mileage/casual car use where required).
• Basic IT skills for electronic notes / mobile apps (or willingness to learn).
