About the role

Pay Details: Grade 4, SCP 5 - 7, £24,790 - £25,584, £12.85 - £13.26 (Pro Rata)

Hours of Work: 37 hrs per week, Term time

Working Pattern: 2 shift pattern between, wk 1: 06:30 – 14:30 / wk 2: 14:00 – 22:00 (Fri 12:00 – 20:00).

Main Place of Work: Civic Offices

Contract Length: Temporary – 6 month FTC

Description:

To provide a physical Security presence, both internal and external, at Authority owned premises in order to deter theft, fire, damage/vandalism and intrusion.
To carry out regular patrols of premises, internal and external, during a shift and to monitor CCTV surveillance equipment (where installed), reporting any incidents in a timely manner to their Supervisor and Facilities Section.
To ensure that premises are opened/closed and alarm systems are set in accordance with instruction and false alarms/user error incidences are kept to a minimum.
To assist and monitor all visitors to the premises, including contractors, to ensure that they only access areas where they are permitted entry.
To be familiar with building equipment and plant, such as heating systems, to ensure that the premises are fully operational prior to general occupation.
To accurately record water temperatures as directly linked to Legionella Monitoring in the Site Log Books.
To arrange to clear blockages, remove foreign matter from sinks, toilets, drains and clean up spillages as required.
To ensure that gullies, drains etc., are kept free from debris and that the premises and grounds are litter free.
Such other duties and responsibilities commensurate with the grade and in accordance with the general character of the job as may reasonably be required by the Chief Officer from time to time.

About you/You will need:

A minimum of 3 years’ experience within the Security Industry or a security related discipline
Proven experience of working in a customer care driven environment
Detailed knowledge of the functions carried out within Building Services
Basic knowledge of all legislation that relates to the Security industry
Basic knowledge of conflict management and resolution
A good level of knowledge of electronic security management systems
Basic knowledge of, and familiarity with, building operations systems and plant i.e. heating systems
Good numeracy and literacy skills with the ability to draft concise and accurate reports
Excellent verbal skills including the ability to communicate with clarity with individuals at all levels
Be physically able to carry out manual and active labouring duties.
Be physically able to conduct regular foot patrols of premises, both internally/externally
A valid Security Industry Authority Licence (SIA)
Must be able to work on own initiative and undertake duties in an effective and efficient manner
Positive and self-motivated with the ability to be flexible and responsive to changes in priorities and demands
Ability to drive/travel throughout the Vale or between locations as appropriate
Prepared to work unsociable hours on a shift rotation basis
