About the role

The Area of English, Maths & Lifelong Learning are now looking to appoint a motivated and enthusiastic Programme Leader to join the well-established English team. This is a fast-paced and diverse role, in which you will work closely with other Programme Leaders (English, Maths and Vocational) and Curriculum/Support Staff to provide high quality and responsive teaching within the Department.

Key responsibilities of the role consist of:

· Planning, teaching and marking for the English curriculum, both at Functional Skill and GCSE level, to students on mainstream vocational programmes, Foundation programmes and ESOL.

· Supporting with the delivery of evening programmes in GCSE and Functional Skills English.

· Supporting the team with internal and external quality assurance processes

· Meeting with students and Parents/Carers as required for Parents’ Evenings, Open days etc and individual meetings as required

· Maintaining records and tracking student progress utilising college systems and processes

· Monitoring attendance and behaviour including implementing any interventions

· Analysing data and producing reports using a range of systems

· Meeting KPIs set as part of the college PDR process

· Taking responsibility for actively engaging with CPD and development opportunities

About the person

The successful candidate will have an excellent track record in teaching, learning and assessment in English.

Candidates should be able to evidence a strong track record in innovative teaching practice to engage and inspire GCSE and Functional Skills English students as well as strong communication skills, adaptable and with a positive attitude to change. The ability to foster working relationships with others and have a willingness to help and support other staff and students is vital.

Furthermore, the candidate will have excellent IT skills, specialist knowledge and experience of teaching/delivering to the Functional Skills and GCSE English standards. You will ideally have a Teaching Qualification or be willing to work towards one and some experience of working with FE students who are resitting their GCSE English as part of a study programme. Strong, innovative teaching and a supportive inspiring outlook are key traits for this role.
