North Yorkshire Council is recruiting an eCrime Enforcement Officer to join its nationally recognised team tackling online consumer harm. From counterfeit goods to large-scale fraud, this role is at the forefront of digital enforcement and forensic investigation.
About the Role:
You’ll support the Disruptions Team Leader in investigating and disrupting harmful websites and online platforms. You’ll also help build capacity across trading standards teams in England and Wales, ensuring eCrime intelligence is captured and shared effectively.
For higher pay grades, you’ll contribute to delivering projects within the National Trading Standards eCrime Team service plan and collaborate with the Digital Evidence Unit on forensic analysis of electronic devices.
Key Responsibilities:
Investigate online criminal activity and exercise statutory powers
Disrupt harmful digital platforms and protect consumers
Support forensic analysis of devices including phones and computers
Collaborate with regional trading standards teams
Assist in legal proceedings and evidence presentation
✅ Ideal Candidate:
Strong investigative skills (essential)
Intermediate knowledge of Trading Standards legislation
Experience in fraud investigation or similar discipline
Ability to enforce fair trading, product safety, and consumer protection laws
Confident in handling digital evidence and working across agencies
