Summary

Strategic Youth Lead

Responsibility: To lead 3 Youth Workers and co-ordinate planning and delivery of 2 youth club sessions (Wednesday and Friday evenings 18:30-21:00) over 46 weeks a year. To lead 2 Project Workers and coordinate planning and delivery of 1 Junior Youth Club session (Wednesday 15:30-17:00) over 39 term time weeks a year.

Hours: 9 Hours, which must include 14:30-17:30 every term time Wednesday and 18:00-18:30 46 Wednesdays per year, with a requirement to sample some of the period from 18:30-21:00 on Wednesday and/or some of the period from 18:30-21:00 46 Fridays per year. The period for which sampling takes place across the 2 youth club nights is flexible.

Hourly rate: £17.50

We are seeking a dynamic, committed and enthusiastic leader to join our established youth work team. You will plan, prepare and deliver a programme of activities for local young people aged 9 – 19 years over 2 Youth Club nights per week (Wednesday and Friday 18:00 – 21:30) and one afterschool session per week for children in school years 5 & 6. You will oversee the work of two small teams of 3 Youth Workers and 2 Project Workers.

Creating and sustaining strong and supportive relationships with young people sits at the heart of our programme and we are seeking someone who will share this philosophy. This is a challenging but exciting opportunity for the right person, supporting the team in continuing to build positive relationships with the young people and contributing to building confidence and giving new and innovative opportunities to young people.

Preferably with a Level 3 Youth Work Qualification, you will be used to working with young people and delivering community projects for children and young people. You should have a sound knowledge of the issues affecting young people, such as safeguarding, mental health needs, SEND and the threats carried by online activity and alcohol/substance use.
