Industrial Electrician / Instrumentation Engineer

Are you an experienced Electrician or Instrumentation Engineer looking for your next challenge in a heavy industrial environment? Acorn by Synergie is recruiting for a permanent role in Plymouth, offering stable day shifts and the opportunity to work on high-value plant and systems in a supportive team environment.

  • 37.5 hours per week (7:30am - 3:30pm, Monday to Friday).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct routine and reactive maintenance on electrical, ICA, PLC, and combustion systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve faults across plant equipment and control systems.
  • Carry out preventative maintenance plans and ensure timely work completion.
  • Contribute to improvement initiatives across electrical and instrumentation systems.
  • Maintain high standards in health, safety, and environmental compliance.
  • Use CMMS systems for work order management and reporting.
  • Liaise with other departments to support operational efficiency.
About You:
  • Proven experience in an industrial or heavy plant setting.
  • Solid background in electrical, instrumentation, and control systems.
  • Familiar with maintenance of pumps, burners/furnaces, mills, and chemical plant (desirable).
  • Strong understanding of health & safety regulations and safe working practices.
  • Ability to calibrate and fault-find on complex instrumentation systems.
  • Flexible, reliable, and able to work both independently and as part of a small team.
Desirable Skills:
  • Awareness of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Working knowledge of PLC systems and variable speed drives.
  • Understanding of ISO9001 for calibration and ISO14001 environmental standards.
  • Familiarity with root cause analysis, risk assessments, 5S, and KPI monitoring.
  • Full UK driving licence essential.
