Summary
The Role: We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic qualified Librarian to join our team at our Redbridge campus, with occasional working at our nearby campuses of Epping and Ilford. The successful candidate will assist and support learners and staff in their use of the Learning Resources Centre, ensuring efficient management and organisation of facilities and services. This role also involves collection management and supporting the Campus Library Manager.Who You Are:You will be a library professional holding either graduate or post-graduate library and information qualifications or CILIP-recognised qualification. You will have experience in front-line service delivery in a library or information service, a strong customer focus, patience and communication skills, with the ability to manage your own workload and enjoy working with young people and adults in a busy, varied environment.Good IT skills are essential as you will be supporting students’ computer use in addition to meeting their reading and information needs. User education experience is also essential. You need to be passionate about delivering a high-quality service and have the flexibility, creativity and imagination to engage every learner and encourage them to succeed.You will be capable of working both as part of a team and independently, deputising for the Campus Library Manager when necessary, and be committed to delivering equality, diversity and safeguarding policies.We serve a culturally and socially diverse community and offer a wide variety of courses including Access to HE, ESOL, creative and performing arts, business and SEND. This role is particularly suited to someone with experience gained in an education library.Key Responsibilities:Provide high-quality customer care to students and staff as part of a front-line service.Operation of the library management system (Heritage) for user registration, circulation, acquisitions and cataloguing.Supervise students and promote a conducive learning environment.Participate in the delivery of digital and information literacy training to classes.Manage collection development, including acquisition, cataloguing and classification of print and digital materials.Promote the use of print and online learning materials to staff and students.Please see the full job description to match your skills and experience to the requirements.What We Offer:Pension: New City College provides a career average pension scheme for all staff.
