Summary
Transforming lives through excellent education
London Met is an extraordinary institution. Equity and social inclusion have always been our driving principles, and it's what makes the University so unique. Our organisation is distinctive, both in its eclectic and diverse community of students and staff, and also for its historical role in serving some of London’s most deprived boroughs. Everything we do is underpinned by our philosophy that an individual should have the opportunity to transform their life through the power of education.
Equipping our students with the tools for their future is at the heart of our academic offering. We pride ourselves on providing our students with access to a wealth of opportunities and professions. Our graduates benefit personally, but also contribute their unique perspectives to society, culture, public service and the economy in all areas of London, the UK and around the world.
ABOUT THE POST
As part of an established Academic Liaison Librarians team you will be supporting students and staff to provide subject specific digital and information skills training, promote and review library resources, and offer 1-to-1 student sessions and enquiry support. The role will develop great working relationships between the Library and the designated departments, and support various courses within the Guildhall School of Business and Law.
Knowledge of the subjects law, politics, international relations, and languages would be beneficial but is not essential for this post.
In Library Services we’re dedicated to providing high quality and innovative library support for learning, teaching and research. We’re passionate about placing library services at the heart of a student’s university experience, embracing the challenges and opportunities offered by emerging technologies, continuously developing our own skills and knowledge in order to evolve our services to meet the needs of our students and colleagues.
ABOUT YOU
We're excited to be looking for a proactive and confident individual to join our team. You might already be a qualified librarian, or you might be someone with experience in teaching, training, or academic support who’s looking to take the next step into a library liaison role.
You’ll have experience working with students or staff in educational settings — whether through teaching, delivering workshops, or providing guidance and support — and be ready to apply this to delivering embedded teaching sessions and 1-to-1 support. You're a team player with excellent communication and people skills. You think creatively and laterally, are passionate about supporting students, and always look for innovative solutions to challenges.
You'll be involved in creating and delivering information skills teaching, as well as project-based work and liaison and service initiatives that require a sound understanding of a library's pivotal role in the University’s learning community. You'll have an understanding of emerging digital developments and the implications for learning, teaching, and research. If this sounds like you, then we'd love to hear from you!
