The Opportunity
You will play an important role in inspiring the next generation of creative professionals. You will plan, deliver and assess engaging lessons that help our students build technical skills, creativity and confidence across a range of Media programmes, from vocational to higher education. Working in our specialist media classrooms, you will guide learners through practical projects and activities that reflect current industry practice and bring the subject to life.
You will use your expertise, including strong knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud, to teach across areas such as film and television production, journalism, photography, sound design, social media content creation and post-production editing. Alongside teaching, you will provide constructive feedback, support coursework and assessments, and encourage both academic progress and personal development.
Collaboration will be a key part of your role, as you work with your colleagues to shape a forward-looking Media curriculum and maintain high standards of teaching and assessment. You may also take on the role of personal tutor, offering guidance and support to help our students achieve their goals.
Beyond the classroom, you will get involved in enrichment activities such as trips, guest speakers and workshops, as well as open days and promotional events to showcase the department. You will also be encouraged to take part in professional development to continue refining your teaching and staying up to date with industry trends.
This is a great opportunity to use your creativity, subject knowledge and industry experience to shape the next generation of media professionals. You will work in a friendly, forward-thinking department with access to specialist facilities and up-to-date software, allowing you to deliver innovative lessons that reflect real-world practice.
About You
We are seeking someone who is enthusiastic about media and confident in bringing that enthusiasm into the classroom. You should have recent experience of working in an education setting in a teaching or assessment capacity, ideally within the last two years, and be able to draw on your professional background in the digital and creative industries to enrich your teaching. Strong knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud is essential, along with the ability to apply your skills across areas such as film, television, journalism, photography, sound design, social media and post-production editing.
You will be an engaging teacher who can deliver learning to a wide range of students, adapting your approach to suit different abilities and learning styles. You should have experience developing learning materials and designing creative, up-to-date sessions that capture our students’ interest and reflect current industry practice. A proven track record of working with employers to help shape curriculum planning will also be an advantage, ensuring that what you deliver is relevant and aligned with industry needs.
We are looking for someone who is flexible, collaborative and eager to contribute to the wider life of the department. You should enjoy working with colleagues to review and enhance the curriculum, share best practice and create opportunities that enrich the student experience. Taking on a personal tutor role, where you provide both academic and pastoral support, will also be an important part of the post.
Most importantly, you’ll be someone who is motivated by helping students succeed—using your industry expertise and passion for media to inspire them, develop their creativity and prepare them for a future in the fast-moving world of the creative industries.
