Summary
Role Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive school environment on a temporary basis. The successful candidate will work closely with students who have a range of special educational needs, supporting their learning, social development, and emotional wellbeing both in and out of the classroom.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide tailored support to students with SEN, including those with autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and learning disabilities.
- Assist in the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies.
- Work collaboratively with subject teachers and the SENCO to adapt learning materials and activities to meet individual needs.
- Support students during lessons, break times, and transitions between activities.
- Promote positive behaviour and encourage independence and confidence in students.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and contribute to review meetings as required.
- Foster a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
Person Specification
- Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs, ideally within a secondary school setting.
- A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach to supporting students with diverse needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, SEN-specific training) are desirable but not essential.
Additional Information
