We now have a rare opportunity to join our Ministerial Visits and Events team as we are looking for a talented and experienced communications professional to join us.
As part of the role, you will help deliver an outstanding programme of visits and events that delivers for our Ministers, strengthens stakeholder relationships and creates excellent media opportunities. This will require regular travel around the UK for visits, events and recces, as well as overnight stays.
You will need to be a confident and dynamic leader, who can work at high standards and thrive under intense pressure to tight deadlines.
As well as this, you will have direct regular face to face contact with the Ministerial team. You therefore need to be able to confidently advise Ministers, Special Advisers and other key senior colleagues on visits and events while also developing strong relationships across the department and Whitehall.

Responsibilities will be:
- Plan and deliver (from conception to completion) a strategic programme of high-quality ministerial visits and events. You will also be required to multitask multiple visits/events regularly at any one time whilst meeting line manager responsibilities.
- Compile and coordinate written materials to a high standard and tight deadlines including ministerial briefings, itineraries, and other materials to support visits for ministers.
- Management of IO direct report/s, with a requirement to provide leadership and effective line management, fostering a high-performance culture through clear direction and development. You must ensure their work is delivered by to a high standard and maintain continued oversight with a responsibility for clearing their work and being directly answerable to the team G7 and G6 on this.
- Work closely with press office and multiple stakeholders to ensure visits and events are aligned to and deliver on ministerial communication priorities. You will also ensure visits are creatively compiled with media and communication objectives in mind.
- Planning and delivering a programme of ministerial visits and events, taking into account the wider political landscape, upcoming media announcements, as well as ministerial and governmental priorities.
- Covering for the head of team Grade 7, when required.
- Be able to accommodate overnight travel and early starts/late finishes in order to deliver ministerial visits and events.
