Summary
Family Support Worker
Required to start as soon as possible
37 hours per week, term time only plus 1 week, 39 weeks per year
(8:30-4:30 Mon-Thurs, 8:30-4 Fridays - Working hours can be discussed if required)
JM05 £25,989 pro-rata to contract, actual starting salary £22,358 per annum
We are seeking to appoint a dedicated member of staff to work closely with students and families who have emerging problems, or additional needs that require targeted support. You will provide prompt support to families at pre-Early Help Assessment (EHA), at EHA (level 2 Herefordshire levels of need). Key duties will include responding to referrals made by the JMHS Pastoral Team, supporting attendance improvement and prevention of absence, completing initial assessments of family needs, and making referrals to relevant internal and external agencies for specific support.
The successful candidate will be organised, proactive, and passionate about supporting students and their families, and have experience of working as a Family Support Worker (or equivalent role), and supporting young people and families. You will be a confident and effective communicator able to relate well to students, parents, staff and external contacts. You will have a good level of ICT skills and a good understanding of child development and factors that affect how students learn.
JMHS was inspected by OFSTED in November 2022 who confirmed our good grading and whose comments included:
• Pupils behave well. They are polite to their teachers and considerate of their peers.
• Parents rate teachers’ high expectations because they push pupils to do more. Many say teachers go ‘above and beyond’ for their children.
• Pupils can do unusual stuff at this exciting school.
• School leaders have constructed a rich and engaging curriculum.
We welcome visits from prospective applicants. If you would like to visit the school or discuss the position further please email Chloe Limbrick (Deputy Headteacher for Behaviour and Culture).
